Long Time surf coast chef and Lorne lovacore Mark Purdies'menu naturally features seafood. Ingredients come fresh from the boat, and from his & wifes Carolines'abundant kitchen garden. There's a generosity of spirit in mood, food & service at this family friendly fine diner. Donald Ramsay abstract landscape paintings hang in the spacious dining room. Rattan chairs, timber tables and carpeted floors create a relaxed feel where conversation is easy. Bistro style food, cooked well, follows the seasons such that the menu might change overnight. Entrees could be spicy seafood stew, house made pasta in chilli spiked sugo strewn with Portarlington mussels or pate like black puddding wrapppped in filo. mains don't all rely on the daily catch, you might find tender twice cooked crisp skin duck, chargrilled dry-aged porterhouse from neighbouring Deans marsh, along with game and offal. Some of the dessert list is more invariable (by popular demand) and includes classic chocolate mousse and creme brulee.
